Catrinas Gets Fresh New Look with Help from PCDC Grant
August 7, 2025
Catrinas Mexican Cuisine is sporting a fresh new face in downtown Holdrege, thanks to a matching grant from the Phelps County Development Corporation’s GO! DREAM First Impressions/Exterior Improvement Program.
Located at 313 East Avenue, the restaurant recently power-washed and painted the exterior of its building a clean, vibrant white, repaired brick cracks, and sealed its windows to prevent future water damage. Owner Jesse Berber said the improvements are part of his continued effort to reinvest in and grow the restaurant, which first opened in February 2022.
“These three years we have grown with this beautiful town of Holdrege,” Berber said. “Through good times and bad, through reflection, our family, employees, and customers have managed to make this establishment grow so that our families can enjoy good food, excellent service, and a pleasant space. We want to thank Phelps County Development Corporation for supporting us in changing our new face with new signs and paint to make this one of the best restaurants in this beautiful town.”
In addition to the recent upgrades, Berber plans to add a floral-themed mural to the exterior of the building, continuing the artistic flair already found inside. Two large interior murals brighten the dining space and reflect the vibrant culture of Mexican cuisine and tradition.
Catrinas has become a popular spot in Holdrege for bold flavors and generous portions. Its menu includes street tacos, nachos, giant burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, salads, and the always-in-demand quesabirria. Berber continues to tweak the menu to meet customer preferences, always striving to improve the dining experience.
With the support of PCDC and the community, Catrinas continues to thrive as both a culinary destination and a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike.
