PCDC Unveils GO! HOME 2.0, Expanded Down Payment Assistance Program
June 21, 2024
Since its introduction in 2017, nearly 300 new residents have moved to Phelps County using down payment assistance from PCDC’s GO! HOME program. The original purpose was to encourage workers to live closer to their place of employment and end long commutes. More than $17 million of home sales were generated by the program.
Today, housing conditions are different than eight years ago. Inflation, rising construction costs and interest rates have taken a toll on prospective home buyers, so PCDC has updated the GO! HOME program to provide more assistance in a flexible package.
GO! HOME 2.0 increases PCDC’s match to $2 for every $1 from employers for the purchase of a new-construction home. Buyers can earn $5,000 from PCDC and $2,500 from the employer for a $7,500 down payment grant to buy a newly constructed home. Additionally, the program has been broadened to include all buyers, not only new residents to Phelps County.
Buyers of existing homes can earn a $1 for $1 grant or up to $2,500 from PCDC and $2,500 from participating employers.
Details and application forms are available on PCDC’s website: https://www.phelpscountyne.com/phelps-county/relocation-assistance/go!-home-programs
“Our goal with GO! HOME 2.0 is to assist buyers to purchase homes in Phelps County. These changes will help buyers move up or purchase their first home,” said Ron Tillery, executive director of PCDC.
Realtors, bankers, and participating employers will receive details of the updated program this week. The programs become effective immediately.
