Holdrege Fitness Co. Expanding

A PCDC grant is helping a downtown fitness center expand.

Adam Jantzi, owner of Holdrege Fitness Co., 311 East Ave., said he is adding 25 percent more space to his 24-hour gym plus new equipment and personal training.

“The PCDC grant helped us get to the point where the ROI on the project was attractive enough to pull the trigger,” Jantzi said. “We had been talking about doing this project for a long time, and when we found out there were grants available to help with the business, it was a no-brainer.”  

PCDC is providing a GO! BUSINESS Grant for renovations and inventory, a GO! DREAM First Impression Grant for exterior improvements, and a GO! DREAM Building Integrity Grant for this project.

This project includes expanding and renovating the back two rooms of the gym, which has been open since November 2023. One room was previously storage, and one housed hydraulic lifting equipment that was seldom used.  

“This project will allow us to add more usable space to the gym and give us enough room to add personal and group training services, which have already started in a small way and will ramp up quite a bit into September once the project is complete,” Jantzi said.  

He has 12 pieces of equipment that will move into the new space and is looking for two or three more pieces to finish the space.

The extra room will expand the gym from 3,300 square feet to 4,000 square feet.  

The local contractor for the project is Melroy Construction, and it is expected to be finished by September 1.  

Once complete, members will enjoy a larger layout with more space to spread out, Jantzi said. Overall, it will create a more comfortable experience for everyone, especially during busy times.

“I personally am excited to offer a larger equipment selection,” Jantzi said. “We are also bringing in an entire second set of dumbbells since that area is heavily used in the main gym right now.  We also have a few pieces of duplicate equipment coming in to alleviate pressure on popular pieces.”

Jantzi said he welcomes the opportunity to build up his personal training clientele.

“I am looking forward to getting back to those relationships that are built with clients that stick around for a long time,” he said.  “I still have clients from a long time ago that I have kept up with throughout the years.”  

Jantzi said he has a long waiting list of people interested in personal training, so he may look at hiring another trainer in a year or two to keep up with demand.
