Glenwood Provides High-Speed Internet That Connects Nebraska Communities
July 7, 2026
Glenwood is a full-service telecommunications provider that spans 17 Nebraska counties. Since 1957, its employees have operated on the core values of quality customer service and quick connections. The Glenwood team is also actively involved in Phelps County life and in the other communities it serves.
“Large companies can deliver internet service, but local providers like Glenwood go further by supporting growth,” says Jennifer Reiman, Director of Business Development and HR at Glenwood. “We live in the communities we serve.”
Glenwood, with 38 employees across rural Nebraska, has been a key player in economic development by providing reliable, fast internet to rural communities across the region. It has also been an active investor in the Phelps County Development Corporation (PCDC) for several years. Learn more about this telecommunications provider and how it expands its impact.
Quality Internet is Essential to Business Growth
As of 2025, more than 97% of businesses have some form of online presence (even if it's just basic elements like contact emails or social media pages). Across the United States, 27.2% of business is conducted online. Glenwood makes it easier for businesses to reach customers across Phelps County while also expanding their operations nationally – and even internationally.
“The most important part of our job is offering reliable internet,” says Reiman. “It’s essential to rural Nebraska, supports business growth, workforce retention, and hybrid opportunities.”
Not only can Phelps-based companies operate successfully through Glenwood, but remote workers and solopreneurs can also move here and resume their normal operations. A wonderful example is the Ehrenbergs, who were showcased in PCDC’s “Phelps Families” series recently.
Outside of the business world, reliable internet makes life possible in rural communities. It allows students to attend remote school when needed and makes medical appointments easier through telehealth consultations.
“When you keep people in rural areas, they buy local and invest local,” says Reiman. “Our services keep people where they want to live. If they don’t have connectivity, they will often migrate to the places that do.”
Glenwood Employees Are Actively Involved in Phelps Life
Glenwood supports multiple non-profits and professional organizations in Holdrege and in the region. They are investors in PCDC, part of the Iron Horse Arts District, and donate to the local YMCA, childcare facilities, and Holdrege Public Schools.
“You name it,” says Reiman. “Not only do we likely support that organization as a company, but our employees are probably involved with them as well.”
For example, one Glenwood employee leads the e-sports club at the local school system. They take their passion for gaming and use it to engage students. Glenwood employees participate in golf tournaments, attend Chamber of Commerce events, and are involved in activities such as the Midsummer Festival.
“This has been a wonderful place to work for the past 21 years,” says Reiman. “It’s not just what we say, it’s what we do.”
Glenwood Sees the Value of Economic Development
Glenwood isn’t just a passive investor in PCDC. It sees the impact this organization has on the community and understands how the growth of Phelps County benefits its bottom line.
“When PCDC is successful, we all are,” says Reiman. “We’ve had a relationship with PCDC for more than 10 years. Economic development supports business and workforce growth, which increases demand for internet and phone service, so we grow together.”
Reiman says that PCDC is regularly in contact with Glenwood. They receive email updates from the PCDC team and work with the executive director, Jeff Hofaker, to help encourage new industries and opportunities in Phelps County by sharing the proactive environment of the area and the organization’s business support programs. As an investor, Glenwood is actively involved and collaborating with PCDC for business attraction and expansion efforts.
“We support PCDC because it’s one of the best ways to invest in businesses and communities,” says Reiman. “We believe in what they do. Not only do they help us grow as an organization, but they are working to ensure our local businesses thrive.”
