Community Invited to Town Hall for Updates on DG Fuel’s Aviation Fuel Project
December 30, 2025
Residents of Phelps County and surrounding communities are invited to a Community Conversation and Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, at the Phelps County Ag Center, 1308 2nd St., Holdrege.
As promised at the previous Town Hall, this event is being held to provide a project update on the proposed DG Fuels Synthetic Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility. Attendees will hear directly from PCDC, as well as Julie Bushell, President of Global Sustainability Developers LLC, and Mike Darcy, CEO of DG Fuels, and additional project stakeholders about planning progress, timelines, and next steps.
The SAF project is expected to bring significant benefits to the local economy. DG Fuels plans to purchase agricultural feedstocks such as corn stover, injecting millions of dollars into the pockets of area farmers while creating opportunities for participation through grower agreements. Earlier projections estimated 1.2 million tons of corn stover annually, adding approximately $144 million in new revenue to the region. Updated forecasts indicate even greater potential.
“The goal of this meeting is to keep our communities informed and engaged,” said Jeff Hofaker, Executive Director of PCDC and moderator of the event. “We are committed to providing regular updates and following through on our commitments.”
The meeting will conclude with an opportunity for engagement. Agricultural producers interested in grower agreements may also register for one-on-one or small-group discussions, ongoing through 2026.
