New Homes Rise in Holdrege’s CREW and Northern Meadows Subdvisions
May 21, 2025
At least seven new homes are under construction in Holdrege’s newest subdivisions, the CREW subdivision in east Holdrege and Northern Meadows near the new ballfields.
The Phelps County Development Corporation sparked the development of the new subdivisions, which are now filling up quickly with new homeowners.
CREW Subdivision Duplex
BonnaVilla, a division of Chief Industries, is building at least one new duplex in the CREW Subdivision with the potential for building more.

The basement foundations have been set, and the prefabricated structure was set to be placed in late May in the first duplex on the northeast lots of Tenth Avenue.
“The City of Holdrege has also offered us two additional lots, allowing for the construction of two more twin homes — four more living units in total,” BonnaVilla Sales Manager Scott Steinfeldt said. “We're excited about the opportunity and are eager to see how the first one is received.”
Each unit will feature approximately 1,200 square feet of living space on the main level, with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There is also an unfinished basement, giving future homeowners the chance to add value and equity to their home over time. Other features include a two-car garage for each unit; vaulted ceilings; tile backsplashes in the kitchen and bathrooms; glue-down vinyl tile flooring in the kitchen; bathrooms, and utility rooms; real maple cabinets in a latte stain; stainless steel kitchen appliances; white interior trim and three-panel white doors.
BonnaVilla has deep roots in Nebraska and rural communities throughout the Midwest. Since its founding in 1970, the company has built more than 35,000 homes, earning a strong reputation for craftsmanship and reliability.
Steinfeldt said PCDC Executive Director Ron Tillery contacted him last year with a strong interest in expanding housing options in Holdrege.
“As we've done in other communities, we formed a partnership to help bring that vision to life,” Steinfeldt said. “Projects like this only succeed when communities and local leaders are truly committed, and that's exactly what we've found in Holdrege.”
The first duplex is expected to be ready for occupancy in August. For information on purchasing one of the BonnaVilla homes, contact Jeremy Klein at Real Estate Connection at (308) 991-1899.
Northern Meadows
Construction is quickly progressing in the Northern Meadows subdivision near Holdrege’s new baseball fields. The first five homes have been constructed, and now basements have been dug for five more.
Dave Hegarty, CFO of R. Perry Construction, said three of the first five homes have been sold on the south side of 16th Street. The next five homes are on the north side of 16th Street, and they are anticipated to be ready for occupancy by December 2025.
The ranch-style homes are 1,280 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, two-car garages, and an unfinished basement. The five newest homes will be similar to the first five homes with varying colors and roof lines.
Construction began in August 2024 on the first five homes in Holdrege’s new Northern Meadows subdivision, which will eventually be a neighborhood of 30 new homes.
The already constructed Northern Meadows homes are on the market for $289,950. The five newest homes will be similarly priced.
“They may increase as prices increase, but the homes will remain less than $299,000,” Hegarty said. “Our goal is to remain around the $290,000 if possible, but market conditions will dictate that.”
The Northern Meadows subdivision was sparked with matching grant funds from PCDC to help alleviate the county’s housing shortage.
“We appreciate everything the City and Phelps County has done for us and their support for the project,” Hegarty said. “They have been great throughout the construction process and a fantastic City and County to work with. We look forward to continuing to bring brand-new quality homes to the Holdrege market that sell for below-market prices. These homes are truly a fantastic value for the product being built and the price they are being sold for.”
