PCDC Launches New Webpage for DG Fuels Project Updates

    January 23, 2025

In an effort to foster transparency and keep the community informed, PCDC has unveiled a dedicated webpage for updates on the DG Fuels synthetic fuel plant project. The new resource, available at PhelpsCountyNE.com, is designed to serve as a central hub for news, progress updates, and information related to the $5 billion investment coming to Phelps County.

The DG Fuels project is one of the largest economic developments in the region’s history. With the potential to create hundreds of jobs and position Phelps County as a leader in sustainable energy, the initiative has sparked both excitement and curiosity within the community. PCDC recognizes the importance of keeping residents, stakeholders, and potential investors informed as the project progresses.

    The new webpage includes:

    • Project Overview: A summary of DG Fuels’ plans, including its mission to produce synthetic fuel and reduce carbon emissions.
    • Community Impact: Information on anticipated economic benefits, job creation, and environmental sustainability.
    • News and Announcements: Updates on milestones, construction timelines, and community meetings.
    • Frequently Asked Questions: Answers to common questions about the project, including details on funding, partnerships, and long-term goals.
    • Contact Information: A direct line for community members to ask questions or provide feedback.

A video of the December 17 DG Fuels Town Hall Meeting is also available on the site. At the meeting, DG Fuels CEO Mike Darcy and Nebraska BioEconomy leader Julie Bushell explained the project and answered questions from residents.

    A Commitment to Open Communication

“We understand that a project of this scale brings a lot of questions,” PCDC Executive Director Ron Tillery said. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to accurate, up-to-date information and that the community feels involved in this transformative journey.”

The webpage will be regularly updated as the project advances, offering a reliable source of information for residents and businesses. This initiative underscores PCDC’s dedication to building trust and fostering collaboration as Phelps County prepares for an era of growth and innovation.

    A Vision for the Future

The DG Fuels plant is expected to bring significant economic growth to the region, aligning with PCDC’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Phelps County.

    Project Draws National Attention

The DG Fuels project in Phelps County is featured in “Site Selection” magazine’s January issue along with an ad featuring Governor Jim Pillen touting the state’s business strengths.

“Site Selection” is a magazine recognized as the leading publication in corporate real estate, facility planning, location analysis and foreign direct investment. The magazine is distributed to 41,600 corporate decision-makers in print or digital editions.

The article “Jetting to the Heartland” highlights mega projects coming to small towns in the Midwest. DG Fuels has also announced plans to build synthetic fuel plants in Moorhead, Minnesota; St. James Parish, Louisiana; and Limestone, Maine.

In the article, DG Fuels CEO Mike Darcy said he chose these locations because they can “supply a steady stream of cellulosic biomass and natural gas.”

The article stated, "Holdrege is known for growing crops and being home to The Speakeasy, a restaurant many regard as the best steakhouse in all of Nebraska.”
