What did farmers do without public water? What happened when the weather simply didn’t cooperate? Crop shortages and economic disaster used to be a more significant fear among farmers but thanks to the ingenuity of Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation, it hasn’t been for 75 years. They found ways to build dams and direct water throughout the state so that communities had continuous access to the water essential for growing crops and daily life. We have them to thank for much of the economic success in Nebraska.
