High Becomes PCDC Treasurer After Benjamin Retires

26 Aug 2016

Long-time PCDC board member Karen Benjamin has resigned from the PCDC board after her retirement from Great Western Bank in June.

Karen served on the PCDC board for 5 1/2 years and was recently serving as the board’s Treasurer, a role that fit her well considering her longtime banking career.

Karen worked in the same bank location in downtown Holdrege for 35 years, surviving four name changes. When she started, the bank was First Security Bank. It then changed to United Nebraska and then to TierOne Bank before becoming Great Western Bank. She served as a lending assistant for 23 years and had worked as the branch manager for the past 12 years.

PCDC Board Member Michele High, who has served on the board since 2005, has now been appointed to the role of PCDC Treasurer. Michele is an ag commercial loan officer at Bruning State Bank and has worked in the banking industry 30 years.

The role of the Treasurer on the PCDC board is to give oversight to the budget, watch expenses and sign checks.

Tim Rehm, chairman PCDC’s Board Development Committee, said they continually vet candidates to fill board vacancies throughout the year to create a qualified pool of candidates.

“We would hope to fill the position by the end of the year with an individual who brings the right talents to our board to serve PCDC effectively,” Rehm said.
