New Recognition Piece Honors Businesses of the Year

13 Feb 2017

A new Business Wall of Fame has been created at the Phelps County Development Corporation offices.

The new recognition piece will honor local businesses or organizations that have made significant investments into Phelps County, have created jobs, taken risks or developed new products.

The first two honorees have been added to the wall after being selected prior to PCDC’s 2017 Annual Meeting. They are Breinig Diesel and the Phelps County Development Corporation.

Breinig Diesel is a fairly new business in the community. It opened up shop four years ago when owners Loren and Jo Breinig realized the need for a truck repair business in Phelps County. They opened Breinig Diesel in a rented building south of the Holdrege Airport to fill that need.

A quick turn-around time and quality work kept truckers and farmers returning to the business and resulted in the Breinigs’ decision to construct a 12,420 square-foot truck repair center north of Holdrege on Highway 183 in 2016.

Breinig Diesel’s investment in Phelps County is helping local industries, bringing new business to the county and providing local jobs.

Also selected this year is the Phelps County Community Foundation, which has boosted nearly every major project in the county in the past 40 years. From the YMCA to splash pads, fire departments, community buildings and The Tassel, the foundation and its donors have stepped up to make Phelps County shine.

The foundation also awards thousands of dollars of scholarships to Phelps County students each year, including a scholarship partnership with PCDC that encourages locally-grown talent to return to the county to fill high-demand jobs.

The work of the foundation is truly making Phelps County a better place to work, live and do business.

Stop in at the PCDC offices at 502 East Ave., on the second floor of the Holdrege City Building, to see the new Business Wall of Fame.
