PCDC Connects Local Properties to National Database
November 29, 2016
Promoting local business opportunities to a larger audience is about to become easier.
PCDC is assisting local commercial property owners in connecting to a national database called LOIS, Location One Information System. It is where site selectors and business owners go to find opportunities to relocate, purchase, lease or build.
PCDC properties, such as the Iron Horse Business & Industry Park, are already advertised on the list. But, the database could also benefit any local property owners with land or buildings for sale or lease.
After a recent assessment discovered more than 16 vacant commercial buildings in the community, PCDC Project Coordinator Alli Donohue said the organization realized the opportunity to promote other local properties on the list as well.
“We would like all of our vacant buildings downtown or in the community to be on this list,” Donohue said. “We want to create activity and be sure people know that Phelps County has opportunities.”
While listing properties with a local realtor can be effective in attracting potential local buyers, Donohue said outside developers and site selectors search LOIS when they are looking for opportunities, thus creating a larger pool of buyers or renters.
Sites on the database receive even more views when state organizations, such as the Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, direct their business inquiries to LOIS.
Donohue will work with any local property owner who is interested promoting a commercial property on the LOIS site. There is no cost and contact information is listed so that any inquires go right to the property owner.
“This is an important service that PCDC can provide,” Donohue said. “It also makes it easier for us to provide inquiring businesses with an accurate and complete list of potential properties.
In addition to being listed on the national LOIS site, the local properties can be found on PCDC’s website at www.phelpscountyne.com/phelps/properties/available-buildings.
