Director of Business Services
Carley Bruning has been with Phelps County Development Corporation since July, 2017.
In her role, she administers the new GO! programs, works with local and regional educators and guidance counselors; administers the high-demand jobs scholarship program; engages with employers to develop programs to recruit, develop and retain talent; assists and encourages local entrepreneurs; and collaborates with other organizations to encourage a vibrant downtown. She oversees PCDC’s Holdrege Young Professionals and Business in Motion groups.
Carley currently volunteers as secretary of the HACC Ambassadors, serves on the Board of Directors for Phelps/Harlan County CASA and is a member of the Rotary Club of Holdrege.
A native of Edison, NE, Carley graduated from Arapahoe Public Schools. She furthered her education at Central Christian College of Kansas, where she played both volleyball and basketball. In college, Carley earned a spot on the honor roll all four years and was an NAIA scholar athlete. She was selected as the Sports Health and Science Outstanding Student of the Year in 2008. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports Management with an emphasis in Mass Communication.
Her previous experience includes work as an escrow closing agent for over three years at Phelps County Title Company, a signing paraprofessional and junior high volleyball and basketball coach in Arapahoe, clubhouse manager at the Arapahoe Municipal Golf Course, assistant women’s college basketball coach at McPherson College in Kansas and assistant women’s volleyball coach at Central Christian College.
